Jordi Savall is among the foremost performers of early music in the world today. He has brought unfamiliar works of the past to millions of listeners in beautiful and creative programs with his ensembles Hespèrion XXI, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, and Le Concert des Nations, as well as his record label Alia Vox.
At Columbia, Savall will speak about early music as an element that builds bridges of understanding between old and the new worlds, as well as between the cultures of the East and West. The lecture, which will take place in the Teatro at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America, will be illustrated by musical examples and followed by a question and answer session.
