MPP Senior Recitals

Every Spring, up to five graduating participants of the Music Performance Program are invited to present one-hour senior recitals at the end of the semester.

This Spring, the recitals will take place on May 2nd, 2026 (Saturday), at Columbia's Italian Academy. The time slots available are 12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM, and 8 PM. You will have access to the space for 30 minutes before and after your one-hour program, e.g.: if your recital is at 12 PM, the space is yours 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

In order to be considered for a recital organized by the Music Performance Program, you must be a current MPP member in good standing (participate in all lessons/coaching sessions, prepare for sessions by practicing individually and attending weekly ensemble rehearsals).

The space is limited to five recitals each Spring. Should there not be sufficient slots for all applicants, or should you feel the requirements for an MPP-sponsored recital are not for you, feel free to get in touch with the MPP office about other opportunities. We also encourage you to inquire about space booking directly with University Event Management.

1. Submit a one-page proposal to the Director of the MPP expressing your interest and proposed repertoire for a 60-minute event (50-52 minutes of music). The choice of repertoire is free. Please choose a program that best represents your work.

2. Once accepted, register for Supervised Independent Study (the course number will be emailed to you). You must have at least one credit available, with up to three credits allowed for this project. The study will become your capstone project, supervised by the MPP Director.

Deadline for submission of proposals: first day of classes in January (January 20, 2026 by 11:59 PM)

Deadline for registration for the Supervised Independent Study is the last day of Add/Drop period (January 30th, 2026 by 4:59 PM)
