November 2021 Newsletter

Dear Friends of the Music Performance Program,

Now that life on Columbia campus seems to have returned to its full swing, we are pleased to share the November update with you.

In this month’s newsletter we celebrate this year’s winners of the Richard and Brooke Kamin Rapaport Summer Music Performance Fellowship. You will also meet MPP student Jason Wang, who talks about sharing music with hospitalized patients via Virtual Bedside Concerts.

As we celebrate twenty years of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Performance Program, we invite you to meet its new director, Ole Mathisen, who brings the program into its third decade.

We hope you will join us via Zoom for our upcoming masterclasses featuring cellist Wendy Sutter and jazz percussionist Clarence Penn. Due to COVID restrictions, attending our live Mid-Day concerts in person remains limited to current students, faculty, and staff with a green pass. If you cannot join us in person, do tune into our live streams, available on Facebook and the MPP website.

With warm November wishes on behalf of all of us in the MPP,

Magdalena Stern-Baczewska
Director, Music Performance Program
